Today is the 2nd week of Aidilfitri 1433H here in Kuala Lumpur. All are back on full gear working and also still celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri 1433H. Possible invitation to "Rumah Terbuka" aka Open House is a traditional event for Malaysian for tighten the grip of friendship between friends, family and staff. The "Rumah Terbuka" is a common event for all Malaysian. Not event Muslims, it also common to Chinese and Indians.

Most common dish that is serve during "Rumah Terbuka" for Muslims is Ketupat, Rendang, Lemang, Kuah Kacang, Dodol and variety of Biskut Raya aka traditional cookies. Ketupat is made using daun kelapa aka coconut leaf that is form to a little casting then the rice is insert into it. It will be boiled in hot water till its cook. For Rendang there are few types of dishes here in Malaysia, Rendang Ayam & Rendang Daging. Its a comes in spicy, but not too spicy. Its usually eat with Ketupat or Lemang. Lemang it is made from glutinous rice together with coconut milk baked in banana leaves coated bamboo. It is wood-fired boil.

Ketupat

I prefer when the celebration of Eid is the peanut sauce eaten with ketupat or lemang. There are various types of peanut sauce on serve, whether spicy or not, it is added with small chunks of meat or chicken, some of which are only available to be eaten with dried shrimp. Now most people prefer to eat the peanut sauce with chicken or beef rendang also with rice cubes.

The open house is the way people in Malaysia to strengthen ties between families, friends and companionship. It means a lot to all who visit and to strengthen the ties between us.

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir Batin.
